Transcript of the Story

Sometime later when Jesus was praying by himself and his disciples were nearby, he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
They replied, “Some say you’re John the Baptist and others say you’re Elijah or one of the other prophets who has come back to life,” but Jesus said to them, “But who do you think I am?”
And Peter replied, “Your God’s promised savior, the Messiah.”
And then Jesus told them not to tell anyone and said, “I’m going to suffer and be rejected by the religious leaders. I’ll be killed. And on the third day I will come back to life.” And then he told all of them, “If you want to be my followers, they give up the things you want and be willing to give up your life every day to follow me. But if you’re ashamed of me and my words, I’ll be ashamed of you when I come back in my glory and the glory of my father and the angels.”
